Marilyn Jane Wharmby

Marilyn Jane Wharmby, 88, of Liberty Township, passed away Saturday February 23, 2019 at Liberty Healthcare in Youngstown. Marilyn was born July 21, 1930 in Canton, the daughter of the late Conrad D. and Helen (Tressel) Olson. Marilyn retired from Woolcos Department Store after working there for twelve years. She also worked at the familys sporting goods business, Wharmby Sports Inc. Marilyn was a member of New Life Lutheran Church and a member of the church choir. She enjoyed sewing, bowling, and playing cards. She is survived by her daughters Diana (Richard) Hamm of Pennsylvania and Loretta (Douglas) Bortmas of Austintown; her son Ronald Wharmby of Girard; her grandchildren Chad Hamm, Jodi Haines, Nick Carney, Tim (Dana) Carney, Diane (Darrin) Yount, and Beth (Mario) Christani; and her great grandchildren Dylan, Kara, Darrin, Shannon, Nicky, and Addie. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Gordon, whom she married March 18, 1950 and passed away on October 25, 1996; her brothers Paul and Robert Olson; her daughter-in-law Rhonda Wharmby; and her grandson Steven. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at New Life Lutheran Church, 1181 Churchill Hubbard Road, Youngstown, Ohio 44505 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel from 4:00- 7:00 PM and Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at New Life Lutheran Church from 10:30 AM until the time of service. The family requests any memorial contributions be made to New Life Lutheran Church in Marilyns name. The family would like to thank Harbour Light Hospice for their care and compassion.
