Marion Z. Jocola, 94, a resident of Howland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. Born April 15, 1924 in Mineral Ridge, Ohio, she was the daughter of Paul and Ida (Nunamaker) Zell. Marion was a 1942 graduate of Mineral Ridge High School. During World War II, Marion worked at Youngstown Steel Car as a welder where she met her husband, Mike. Marion was dedicated to service and volunteered for many organizations including Trumbull County SCOPE, Mission of Love, and Women Working for Christ. She was presented the "President's Volunteer Service Award" in 2009 for 50 years of service with the American Red Cross, where she was a volunteer and a CPR/First-Aid Instructor. Marion was also a teacher's aid and worked in the workshop for Fairhaven School. She was a life- long member of Mineral Ridge Church of Christ and taught Sunday school for over 30 years. She attended Elkhorn Valley Christian Service Camp every year. Marion loved music and poetry, and cherished spending time with her family. Survivors include her son Michael (Ann) Jocola of Howland; her daughter Jan (Gary) Hoff of Vienna; and her grandchildren Dr. Aundrea Jocola, Marissa Jocola, and Lenna Hoff. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Jocola, whom she married May 10, 1959 and who died November 19, 2010, and her sister Dorothy Cash. Friends will be received at the Lane Funeral Home, Mineral Ridge Chapel at 5:30- 7:00 PM on Friday, June 29; services will be held at 7:00 PM on June 29th. A private burial will take place at Kerr Cemetery . The family requests material contributions be made to Mineral Ridge Church of Christ.
