Warren - Marjorie Cless died peacefully on September 14th, 2024.
She was born Marjorie Eleanore Zabel on April 2nd, 1931 to Grant and Kathryn Zabel in Long Beach, California. Shortly after her birth, the family relocated to Warren, Ohio.
After graduating in the January ‘49 class from Warren G. Harding High School, she was voted Miss Sesquicentennial, Queen of Warren to which she presided over the city’s 150 year old celebration with over 350,000 people in attendance. In 1950, she married her high school sweetheart, Eli Cless, and proceeded to have three children: Kathy, Suzanne, and David.
An avid tennis and golf player, Marjorie was an integral part to founding The Tennis Connection with her daughters in 1975. After retiring from the store, she spent her time playing tennis and golf, gardening, and spending time with her two grandsons.
She leaves behind her daughter Suzanne Kessler, son-in-law Booker Kessler, and grandsons Henry Kessler and Eli Cless in addition to her many friends and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eli Cless, daughter Kathy Cless Kane, and son David Cless.
Friends may call 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM on Wednesday, September 18th at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Dr. NE in Warren, where the funeral will take place at 11:30AM.
Internment in Crown Hill Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the food pantry at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 140 Cherry Avenue NW, Warren, OH 44485.
