Lake Milton- There will be a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Noon, Thursday, March 14th. at St. Michaels Parish in Canfield for Marjorie I. Yerman, age 88, who passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the Windsor House in Canfield. Marjorie was born January 24, 1931 in Youngstown to the late John C. and Julia (Kopchay) Sakely. On June 1, 1950 she graduated form Poland Seminary High School. In high school she was active playing baseball and basketball. She belonged to the Girls Athletic Association. She attended Girls State in 1949 and elected to Secretary of State. Marge was active in the Poland Hustlers 4-H Club, 4-H Beef Club, 4-H Advisor for many years; 4-H Alumni Club serving as Treasurer for over 25 years, 4-H Endowment Club as Treasurer, received the Friends of 4-H Award and served on the Jackson-Milton Farm Bureau Council as Secretary and President. She was active on the Mahoning County Extension Board as Secretary and as President. On September 1, 1993 Marge and her late husband were honored as Outstanding Rural Farm Family at the Canfield Fair. Marge served on the Farm Bureau Federation Board as Public Policy Key Leader, Secretary, information committee, government affairs, Nationwide promotion, policy development, agecology, membership and was the first woman president. She attended the American Farm Bureau annual meeting in Nashville, Tennessee as delegate to the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation and in 2005 received the Ohio Farm Bureau Federations Distinguished Service Award. After graduation, Marge began her banking career at Dollar Savings and Trust Co. as secretary to the Vice President. In 1960 she started with the Farmers National Bank and retired after 36 years on May 31, 1996 as Assistant Manager at the Lake Milton Office. She married her late husband April 23, 1960 at St. James Church in North Jackson. She was a member of St. Michael Parish in Canfield. Marge served as a greeter, helped with funeral dinners, St. Michaels Garden Guild as Vice-President and President for four years. She and her late husband donated a stained-glass window. She loved flower and vegetable gardening. She also loved flower arranging, she made arrangements for her nieces weddings and also made Christmas arrangements for Timberlanes in Salem. Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband George L. Yerman, her parents, her sister Julia Feher, and her brothers John, Charles, Elmer, and Edward Sakely. Marjorie is survived by her nieces and nephews, Nancy Ellis, JoAnn Bukovina, Judith Peplowski, Charles (Shelley) Sakely, John Sakely, Jane Sakely, and Barbara Withers; many great nieces and great nephews. She left many, many wonderful friends. Friends may call Thursday 10-11:45AM at the Church, 300 N. Broad St. in Canfield. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Material contributions may be made to St. Michaels Social Justice Fund.
