Martha Myers Swartz

Canfield- Martha Myers Swartz entered into eternal rest on Thursday August 7, 2008, after an extended illness. Martha was born January 15, 1928 in Alliance, Ohio, the daughter of the late Edwin G. Myers and Zella Marie Yeagley of Alliance, Ohio. Martha was a 1944 graduate of the Alliance High School and attended Ohio State University. She married Dr. Marvin Swartz of Youngstown on March 20, 1946. Early in life she worked at the Farm Bureau and later assisted her husband in his dental office. Later she spent time as a homemaker taking great pride in raising two sons. She loved gardening, cooking and working with ceramics. She attended the Pleasant Grove United Presbyterian Church of Youngstown. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Wendell Myers. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Marvin Swartz whom she married March 30, 1946, her sons James M. (Carol) of San Martin, CA. and John R. (Patricia) of Atlanta, GA., her granddaughter Jennifer (Chris Bachelder) and a great grandson Paxton James Bachelder of Santa Rosa, CA. The family is very grateful to her many caregivers who provided loving care for Martha during her extended illness. A private family service is planned. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St, Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
