Mary Kerr Buchanan, 87, of Canfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully November 3rd, 2018, with her loving family by her side. Mary was born to the late William Orville and Kathryn Door Kerr on May 23, 1931, in Eastbrook, Pennsylvania. She graduated from New Wilmington High School in 1949 and received her Diploma of Nursing (RN) from Jameson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in New Castle, Pennsylvania in 1952. Mary is survived by her two children: Diane Buchanan (Ken) Leonard of Canfield, Ohio and Dr. Timothy Kerr (Steli) Buchanan of Westerville, Ohio. She is also survived by her grandchildren Sara (Wayne) Greier, Dr. Dan (Hannah) Leonard, Dr. Ben Buchanan, Luke Buchanan and Nick Buchanan and her two great-grandchildren, Lacie and Blake Greier. She was affectionately known to all as "Gawky". She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents and three sisters, Jane (Bill) Cody, Dorothy (Jack) Kerensky and Marge (John) Buckwalter. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was married for 34 years to C. Robert Buchanan and was immensely proud of her family. She cherished time together. She was full of compassion for everyone and loved being a nurse. She was an avid sports fan and "granny in the stands" to many. Mary enjoyed politics and was well-versed in the art of political sparring. She was a two-time survivor of cancer. Calling hours for friends and family will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 10th at Lane Funeral Home in Canfield, Ohio. A memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Fair Oaks Cemetery in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.
