Mary L. Miller

SEBRING---Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel, for Mary L. Miller, 101, of 800 S. 15th St., Sebring, formerly of North Jackson and Canfield who died Tuesday evening at her residence. Mary was born June 27, 1901 in Elton, OH, the daughter of Solomon and Sarah (Barnes) Moser and was a lifelong area resident. She started her teaching career in 1919, in a one-room schoolhouse in Beloit. Mary then taught 6th grade at Berlin Center for 2 years retiring in 1969 after teaching the 6th grade 24 years at North Jackson. Mary graduated from Springfield Local School, Canfield Normal School, attended Kent State University and graduated from Youngstown University. She was a member of the First Federated Church in North Jackson, the Canfield Republican Women, and the Canfield Golden Agers. Her husband, Walter Miller, whom she married December 29, 1925 died in 1945. Mary is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Brooks of Cleveland, Janet Donaldson of North Jackson and a son Lorin (Ike) Miller also of North Jackson, 6 grandchildren, Walter, Donald and Jeff Donaldson, Margaret Russell, Kathy Hall and Amy Friedli, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Five brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Friends may call from 10 to 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home. The family requests the memorial contributions take the form of donations to the First Federated Church of North Jackson.
