Mary Leona Slagle

SALEM-Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Greenford Lutheran Church for Mary Leona Slagle, 88, formerly of Canfield who passed away Saturday morning, February 23, 2019 at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salem. Leona was born on September 26, 1930 in Greenford, the daughter of Harry D. and Blanche B. (Heintzelman) Bell. Leona was co-owner of Slagle, Inc. for 25 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Greenford Lutheran Church. Leona loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed bowling with her husband. She also enjoyed walking. Leonas husband of 60 years, Richard G. Slagle, whom she married July 3, 1948, died March 10, 2008. Leona is survived by her daughters, Linda (Danny) Evanoff of Salem, Brenda Meade of Cleveland, TX, Carrie (George) Toy of Canfield, and Vicki Keene of Washingtonville; her sisters-in-law, Lee Sawyer of Poland, Francis Bell of North Lima and Joann Bell of Columbiana, her grandchildren, Christine (Del) McCallister, Jennifer Snyder, Lori (Wayne) Kaminski, Kate (Josh) West, Master Sgt. Richard Travis (Teresa) Toy, Jonathan (Suzanne) Meade, Scott (Ashley) Keene, Ashley Toy and Staci (Zach) May; her great grandchildren, Ryan McCallister, Brianne (Chad) Sampson, Trent Saladin, Jaren Snyder, Avery Snyder, James Page, Kayla Kaminski, Riley West, Tristan Toy, Abby West, Devon Leona May, Isabella Toy, Hunter West, Rowan Meade, Elijah May, Remington Meade and Ashton Keene and her great great granddaughter, Maggie Sampson. Besides her parents and husband, Leona was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 3 sisters. Friends may call from 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, prior to the Service.
