Mary “Louise” Kotouc, 92, of Austintown, passed away June 14, 2019 at Austin Woods Nursing Center.
Louise was born October 3, 1926 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Belanchack) Stepien.
Louise attended Pittsburgh Hospital of Nursing and graduated in 1947. Louise retired from Packard Electric in 1987 as a Registered Nurse. Prior to her employment there she also worked at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, American Heart Association, Headstart Program, and Red Cross. To staff and friends at Victoria House she be remembered fondly as the “puzzle queen.”
Louise is survived by her children; Dr. John (Nancy) Bates of Maryland, Robert (Debbie) Bates of Indiana, Linda (Mike) Pilak of Austintown, Sandra Straight of Boardman, Richard (Sharon) Bates of Poland; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Beside her parents she is preceded in death by her husbands John Bates, Donal Miller, and Fred Kotouc, her siblings Ann Hewitt and Jack Stepien, and her son-in-law Roy Straight.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 11:00 AM- 12:00 PM at Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church, of which Louise was a member, at 2432 S. Raccoon Road, Youngstown, Ohio 44515. A Memorial Service will be held immediately following at the church.
