A memorial Service will be held on Saturday February 1, at the Canfield Presbyterian Church for Mary Ruth McPhee of Canfield who passed away on Saturday, January 11, at her home. Mary was born November 15, 1920 in Youngstown the daughter of George W. and Ruby (Zimmerman) Blunt. She was a 1939 graduate of Canfield High School and worked at G.M. McKelvey Co. upon graduation. She belonged to the Fact and Fiction II and was a member of the Saxon Club and the Canfield Women’s Club I. She was a member of the Salem Golf Club where she made a hole-in-one. She was a member of the Canfield Presbyterian Church where she worked for many years in Operation Blessing. She was an avid gardener and belonged to the Canfield Garden Club as well as being inducted to the Canfield Hall of Fame. Mary and her sister Eileen operated the McPhee Brothers Sohio Station in Cornersburg during the war while their husbands were in the service. Mary is survived by her husband Harold, whom she married June 18, 1940, and two children: Harry James McPhee of Canfield and Kathy Jo McPhee with whom she made her home, also in Canfield. She also leaves four grandchildren: Callie and Joel Hartman, Dr. Michelle(Nathan) Davidson of Ashburn, VA., and Chet MCPhee of Youngstown. Mary also leaves two great-grandchildren: Hayden and Chloe Davidson. A sister Ruby Cummings, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Mary was preceded in death by her son Randy, on September 17, 1976. The family requests that material tributes take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley.
