Mary Virginia Millikin "Genney", also affectionately known as "Nana" to her grandchildren, age 98, passed away peacefully with her grandchildren by her side on April 27, 2017. Born November 7, 1918 in Wintersville to the late Grover and Della (Gillespie) Ford; she was a lifelong area resident. She worked at Republic Steel during WWII. Her passion was music, reading, and yard-work. Her mind was sharp and she credited her long life to healthy eating and exercise. She was preceded in death by her 5 brothers, 6 sisters, her daughter Eleanor Cheeks, as well as two grand-daughters, Sherry Cheeks and Debra Cheeks Lindenmuth. She leaves behind her son John A Shobel II; eight grandchildren: John B. Cheeks, Bridgette (John) Hall; Mark Cheeks, Katrina Armeni, Eric Cheeks, Leslie Massacci, Lissa Willis, and John A. Shobel III; 19 great grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren. Interment will follow at a later date. Arrangements were handled by Lane Funeral Homes, Mineral Ridge Chapel.
