Melba Elizabeth Baytos, 80, of North Jackson, Ohio passed away in the early hours of March 21st, 2024 at St. Elizabeths-Boardman. Melba was born in Youngstown, Ohio on August 29th, 1943, the daughter of the late Joseph Soles and Edna (Brooks) Soles. Melba was a 1961 graduate of East High School and went on to work many years as a deli manager at Fazio’s and Kroger. Melba went on to marry the love of her life, Gerald Baytos, on June 2nd, 1973 after meeting while both were out one night. They spent 50 years of marriage together, creating lifelong memories filled with love. It was no secret that Melba loved everyone in her family and her friends.
Melba was an avid bowler, bowling many 200 plus games, enjoyed going to stockcar races with her husband and friends, was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3298 Women’s Auxiliary, and a social member at Catholic War Vets 1292.
Melba leaves behind to carry on her memory, her husband, Gerald; her daughter, Tracey (Tony) Restivo and Gerald Baytos Jr; sibling, Juanita Lyons; nieces, Pam, Tish, Paula, and Dawnelle, as well as many grand children and great grandchildren.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Evelyn Rosengren; and a granddaughter, Heather Jo Upole.
Friends and family may call Tuesday March 26th, 2024 from 10am to 11am at Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave, with a service to follow at 11am.
