Melvie Louise Hughes, 95 Boardman Melvie Louise Hughes, 95 of Boardman and Anna Marie Island, Florida passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon at Hospice House in Poland Ohio with her family at her side. Melvie was born April 18, 1918 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Alvin and Pearl Stocker Williams and was a lifelong area resident. Inspired by her brother-in-law, J.Ralph Seidner, an important aviator in this area, Melvie learned to fly a biplane at age 19. Her sense of adventure gave way to homemaking and, with her devoted husband Norman, raising two children, Marlene and Norman Jr. with whom she made her home. But Melvie always loved to travel and did so frequently in her later years, enjoying trips to New York City and Florida with her son who will treasure those memories. Melvie was especially fond of her vacation home on Anna Maria Island Florida. Melvie will be sadly missed by her son, of Boardman, one brother, Alvin Williams of Boardman and 4 grandsons, Richard, David, Andrew and Christopher. Besides her parents, Melvie was preceded in death by her husband, Norman J. Hughes Sr., in 1998 ; a daughter, Marlene Kramer in 2004 and two sisters, Velma Humble and Esther Seidner. Though Melvie requested there be no services, her memory will be honored in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Boardman Chapel.
