Mr. Melvin E. Tennant, Jr., 58 of Canfield, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, April 25th, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Boardman.
He was born May 13, 1965 in Columbus, a son of Melvin E., Sr. and Nellie P. (Shriver) Tennant Turney.
Melvin was a graduate of the Leonard Kirtz School and worked as a sorter for Gateways for Better Living.
He enjoyed playing cards, watching movies and sports, and listening to music, especially Elvis Presley and KISS. Melvin also loved puzzle books and he looked forward to visits from his sister Patty and their daily phone calls at 3:30 and 6:30, "on the dot" as he always said.
Melvin is survived by his mother, Nellie, of Youngstown and his siblings; Patricia Thompson, Donna (Dave) Averill, and Barbara Tennant, all of Youngstown, Darlene (Kenny)Tennant, of Warren, Ellen (Chris) Turney, of Liberty, and Joseph (Drea) Tennant, of Warren. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Daryl W. Tennant and Ellis "Sam" Tennant; a sister, Eva L. Tennant Jerez, and a brother-in-law, Steven J. Thompson.
Melvin was a kind , loving man with a heart of gold, who would do anything for anybody. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, May 3rd, at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown, with Pastor Joel Theis officiating.
Friends may call one hour prior to services from 2- 3 PM Friday at the funeral home.
