Mercer – Michael Javorsky, 79, passed away Saturday April 27, 2024 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Michael was born on December 25, 1944 in Sharon, PA, a son of the late John P. and Julia J. Javorsky.
He was a 1962 Brookfield High School graduate and started classes at Youngstown State University to study pre-med before joining the United States Army. During his time in the service, he was an instructor for Crypto Communications at Fort Monmouth, in New Jersey until he received his orders to deploy to Thailand to repair the Crypto Communications.
He worked many years at the Sharon Honda Shop and General American Steel Mill. He also was a firefighter for the Sharon Fire Department, Local 417 from 1979 until he retired as Captain in 2003.
Mike was known for his sense of humor and helping family with anything that they needed. He enjoyed staying active and can be found walking five miles a day.
Michael will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Denise Javorsky whom he married on November 21, 1992; children, Wendy Unrue and Sean (Angela) Javorsky; grandchildren, Michael Unrue, Logan Javorsky, and Alaina Welsch; brothers, Mark and David Javorsky; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Martin Javorsky.
A private service will be held, and arrangements were entrusted with Lane Family Funeral Homes – Madasz Chapel in Brookfield.
Burial will take place at Brookfield Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Sharon Fire Department, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
