Mildred R. Gilk, 70 of Austintown died peacefully Tuesday evening, surrounded by her family at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Boardman. Mildred, known as “Midge” was born March 27, 1949 in Clover, PA, a daughter of the late Tony and Genevieve Levinsky and came to this area as a child. Midge graduated in 1967 from Austintown Fitch High School and was a homemaker. She was an avid Wizard of Oz and Elvis Presley fan and collected all the memorabilia to show it. Midge was very artistic and creative. She loved to do all types of crafts including painting, drawing, and sewing. She also enjoyed watching the birds in her back yard and had created her own bird sanctuary. She leaves her husband, John A. Gilk, whom she married August 27, 1970; her daughter, Stacey R. (Richard) Ciolli; her son, Joseph John (Natalee) Gilk both of Austintown; two grandchildren, Payton Ciolli and John Gilk. Per Midge’s wishes,a private memorial service was held for her family.
