Austintown – There will be no services for George D. Dickens of 1188 Signature Drive in Austintown who died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. George was born on November 6, 1918 in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania the son of George and Emma (Hall) Dickens. He served in the United States Army as a radio operator during WWII then went on to work at Republic Steel before spending 20 years as a taxicab driver for Independent Cab in Youngstown. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers and enjoyed spending his spare time with his hobby as a ham radio operator. Mr. Dickens is survived by his wife Mary (Bohecker) Dickens who he married on March 28, 1941. He also leaves 4 children Mary Lou Morgan of Greenfield, IN, Karen J. Dickens of Austintown, George D. Dickens of Warren and James R. Dickens of Canton along with 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a sister Florence Boggs, a brother Ernest R. Dickens, a grand daughter Robin Ann Dickens and a great grandson Daniel E. Johnson. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel.
