Nicholas L. Bellitt, Jr.

Nicholas L. Bellitt, Jr., 91, passed away April 16, 2017 at Hospice House. Nick was born in Girard on March 20, 1926 to Nicholas & Frances (Bernard) Bellitt, Sr. Upon turning 18, Nick joined the Navy proudly serving our country during WWII. After his discharge, Nick spent his career working for LTV Steel as the Union President until his retirement in 1986. Nick was an active member of the Cortland Christian Church, Eagles 101, the AmVets and Italian Club. He was also known to play keno and enjoy a horse race or two. Visitation for Nick will be held on Wednesday April 19th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lane Funeral Homes, Cortland location; 164 N. High Street. A funeral service will be held on Thursday April 20th at 1:30 p.m. at Cortland Christian Church; 153 Grove St, Cortland. Nick was preceded in death by his brothers Guy & Pat Bellitt. He is survived by his wife Erma, his children David (Barbara) Bellitt, Gary (Cindy) Bellitt, Frank (Annette) Daugherty, Leah (Dale) Schmidt, PhD and Karen Knapp, his grandchildren: Sara, Christopher, Jacklyn, Danielle, Erika, Carrie, Erin, Nicholas, Christopher and Tara, 9 great grandchildren as well has his brother Jim Bellitt.
