Patricia Ann Kachurek

Patricia Ann (Husted) Kachurek, 85, of Austintown, passed away June 21, 2013 at Hospice House. She was born Nov. 13, 1927 in McDonald, OH, the daughter of Frank and Hazel Husted. Pat was a graduate of McDonald High School and a charter member of St. Joseph Church, in Austintown. For 35 years, she worked with her husband Ray as a partner for Ray's Christmas Trees and also worked for the Ohio Turnpike as a toll collector. She was the Ohio Ladies Horseshoe Champion for the Senior Olympics and a member of numerous 500 card and poker clubs. She enjoyed bowling, fishing but especially golf. Pat was a member of a golf league in Florida and the secretary of Tee Timers golf club for 40 years. Pat loved spending time with her family, traveling the U.S. with Ray in their motor home, and wintering with him, in Florida for the past 25 years. Pat faced many medical challenges over the past several years with grace and dignity while never losing her sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by her husband Ray, whom she married Feb. 19, 1949, three sons, James and Joseph Kachurek, both of Youngstown, Michael (Sandy) Kachurek, of Austintown, two daughters; Janet "Lulu" (Jim) Zambataro, of Brecksville and Lori (Mark) Detwiler, of Boardman, a sister-in-law; Irene Husted, ten grandchildren; Lisa Kachurek, Ashley (Tim) Takat, Jason (Liz) Protain, Nicky, Christopher, and Jimmy Zambataro, Jessie (Justin) Conrad, Carlyn Kachurek, Sunny (TC) Osman, Sasha Detwiler and five great grandchildren; Michael, James, Mitch, Logan and Tyler. Besides her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her son Gene, a brother; Bill Husted, and three sisters; Florence Husted, Slim Rafferty, and Mare Pishner. Friends will be received Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel from 4:00pm- 9:00pm and again on Monday June 24, 2013 from 10:00am until the time of the service at St. Joseph Church. Funeral services will be held Monday June 24, 2013 at St. Joseph Church in Austintown at 11:00am. A sincere thanks to her many doctors and the exceptional nursing staff of St. Elizabeth Boardman Campus. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Joseph Church Building Fund, in Pat's name.
