A funeral service will be held Thursday for Paul J. Kiefer, of Brookfield, who passed away Sunday (12-18-2005) at his home. He was 86. Mr. Kiefer was born June 15, 1919, in Farrell, a son of Paul J. and Julia M. Miller Kiefer, and was a lifelong area resident. He attended Brookfield High School and was a craneman for 35 years at GATX in Masury, retiring in 1984. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps 58th Air Service Squadron and served during World War II in North Africa, Egypt, and Italy. He enjoyed golf and gardening. He leaves: his wife, the former Phyllis E. Waddington, whom he married July 4, 1947; a son, Paul J. (Beatrice) Kiefer of Poland, Ohio; two brothers, Robert C. Kiefer of Clearwater, Fla., and Albert E. Kiefer of Leesburg, Fla.; and a granddaughter, Kelly (David) Massare. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jacob P. Kiefer.
