Paul Samolyk

Paul Samolyk, 79 of 31 Sleepy Hollow Drive, Canfield,Passed away Saturday evening due to lung cancer. He was born August 18, 1923 in Youngstown, a son of Nick and Sofie Samolyk and was a life long area resident. A graduate of The Rayen School, Mr. Samolyk served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a supervisor at U.S. Steel for more than 30 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Canfield. His wife the former Elizabeth (Bette) Fecko, whom he married in 1950 died in 1981. Mr. Samolyk is survived by two daughters, Sharon Samolyk of Canfield and Lori Samolyk of Colorado Springs, four grandchildren, Bianca, Damian, Maura, and Alyssa; one sister Ann Balasko; one brother Larry Samolyk, eight nieces and ten nephews. He was preceeded in death by two brothers John and Philip Samolyk. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Tuesday and Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Thursday at St. Michael’s Church. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in his honor to St. Michael’s Church.
