Pauline Hruby

d. June 5, 2019

Mrs. Pauline Hruby, age 87, passed away peacefully on June 5th at Antonine Village in North Jackson where she had resided the past three years. She was born in Campbell, the eldest child of Paul (Sr.) and Mary Malarchek Ekoniak. Pauline was the valedictorian of her Fitch High School class of 1949 and she married Frank (Mickey) Hruby in 1957. They enjoyed 56 years together on Howard Avenue in Austintown until his passing in 2013. She was a woman of great faith. As a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of the Lakes, Pauline demonstrated her faith through her caring acts of charity and kindness; both in the church community, and through generous gifts to many agencies throughout the US who serve the less fortunate. Pauline was a valued member of the insurance industry in Eastern Ohio for nearly 50 years; and, held CPIW, CLU, and LUTFC credentials. She worked for the Erie Company as an agent, manager and trainer/mentor. Pauline was very active in professional organizations and served as an officer in many of those organizations. Known for her forbearance and as a seeker of truth, Pauline would often say "Thats a true statement" when something of veracity was spoken. Her intellect was amazing and she was more often a listener of quality radio than television. Pauline loved music and often recalled with great fondness her youthful days of dancing at Idora Park. Pauline was loved. Left to mourn her passing are her brother, Paul, and family; her sister, Marie, and family; her sister-in-law, Anne Root, and family; cousins: Michael Ekoniak and family; Lucille Puhak and family; Marie Haring and family; Helen Zupko and family; and Michelle Minotti and family. Pauline was especially fond of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. She also leaves many dear friends in the area. As her condition deteriorated, Pauline maintained an upbeat attitude for which she was widely known and respected. May her spirit live on. The family would like to thank the Sisters and Staff of Antonine Village for their compassionate care for Pauline, as well as staff of Hospice of the Valley. Memorial gifts in honor of Pauline can be directed to either Antonine Village, 2675 N. Lipkey Road, North Jackson, OH 44451, or Our Lady of the Lakes Parish - St. James Catholic Church, 50 Rosemont Road, North Jackson, OH 44451. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am Friday at St. James Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in North Jackson where friends may call from 10-11am prior to services.
