Peggy Lou Skipp, 82 of Cortland passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Briarfield at the Ridge Nursing Home. She was born in Derry, PA on August 18, 1928. She is the daughter of the late Edgar and Margaret (Miller) Smith. Coming to the area in 1956, Peggy was an active member of Howland Community Church where she was a deaconess. She graduated from Youngstown State University with her Bachelors degree. She was a real estate broker in the 1970s and then worked for a mortgage broker company in the 1980s. She was an avid golfer; and belonged to the Chip and Putt Club. She was also a member of Digits Investments. She married her husband, Alexander F. Skipp Jr. on June 19, 1948. Together they shared 49 years of marriage until his passing on August 5, 1997. Peggy is also preceded in death by her parents and a brother Vaughn Smith. Peggy is survived by her two children; Christy S. (Richard J.) Kos of Cortland, Alexander F. (Sue W.) Skipp III of Houston, Texas, four grandchildren, Abbey S. Kos, Johnathon "Jake" Kos, Alexander F. Skipp IV, and Nathan T. Skipp. According to Peggy's wishes there will be no calling hours or services and cremation will take place. Material contributions may be made in Peggy's memory to Howland Community Church, 198 Niles-Cortland Road SE, Warren, Ohio 44484. Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
