A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wedgewood Park Church, 1944 S. Meridian Rd., Youngstown 44511, at 7:00PM on Friday, July 20, 2018 for Ralph Eugene Claypoole, 82 of Austintown who passed away Tuesday evening, July 10, 2018 at Mercy Health - St. Elizabeth Hospital main campus. Ralph was born October 2, 1935 in Youngstown, the son of Charles Sr. and Anna Mae (McGlynn) Claypoole. He was a graduate of East High School, class of 1954 and served as a sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War. Ralph worked in the maintenance department of Hutch Manufacturing for a period of time, then for Jims Auto Clinic as a mechanic; after which he went to work for Community Busing where he was a driver for 28 years. Most recently, Jim worked for Garwin Company as the head of the Y.S.U. shuttle buses up until December of 2017. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan following the Browns, Cavs and Indians all the time. Ralph leave his wife of 56 years, the former Joan Phillips, whom he married March 24, 1962; three children: Joan (Todd) Williams of Youngstown, William Claypoole of Woodbury, GA, and Brian (Meghan Claypoole of Austintown; three grandchildren, Maisie, Caylee, and Cassidy; and one step sister Barbara (James) Pittfield. Besides his parents Ralph was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Jr. and Donald Claypoole, one sister Florence Zoblnski and a step brother Ray King. The family will receive friends at the church just prior to the service from 6-7PM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the family to help with funeral expenses. Arrangements were entrusted to Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
