Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Ramon "Butch" Gedra, 78, who passed away Friday evening, October 27th, in Akron General Hospital. Butch was born August 7, 1939 in Youngstown, the son of Martin and Evelyn (Shafer) Gedra and lived in the area for most of his life, recently moving to Uniontown to be close to his daughter. Butch was a graduate of Chaney High School, class of 1957 and served in the Army Reserves. He retired in 1999 from Wean United where he had worked as a lath operator. He was an active member of Mahoning United Methodist Church, where his parents Martin and Evelyn were founding members, up until it closing. Butch was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He belonged to several different hunting and conservation groups in the area. He was also a licensed nuisance trapper. His wife the former Marie Buday, whom he married July 1, 1961, passed away March 11, 2013. Butch leaves three children, Marie (Daniel) Dorazio of Uniontown, David (Laura Dunlea) Gedra of Fairfax Station, VA, and Daniel Gedra of Bellville, MI, 11 grandchildren, Jake, Madeline, Stephen, Olivia, and Elizabeth Gedra, David, Danielle, Mario, and Aniello Buzzacco, Daniel and Nicholas Dorazio. Besides his parents and wife, Butch was preceded in death by a daughter Christine Buzzacco, and two brothers, Robert and Ronald Gedra. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday and again from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel where services will begin at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the charity of the donor's choice in Butch's name.
