Raymond P. Parks, 71, of Garfield Heights, passed away Friday May 17, 2019 in Cleveland. Raymond was born February 15, 1948 in Youngstown, the son of the late George and Algia (Burchfield) Parks. Raymond graduated from Rayen in 1967, where he played football for four years. Prior to retirement he worked for 43 years as a meat cutter for Giant Eagle in Cleveland, and in various other supermarkets, including Fisher Fazio in the Youngstown area and Iannis and Stop and Shop in Cleveland. Raymond enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie charter boats and local inland lakes, walking at the recreation center, watching Hallmark movies, watching sports, nature shows, American Pickers, and Pawn Stars. Above all else he loved his family, playing with his granddaughter and taking his mother, his best friend, on casino trips. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gloria (Wegendt), whom he married August 19, 1972; his daughters Regina Parks and Rachel Parks (Jeff Wahba); his granddaughter Samantha Parks; his brothers Dennis Parks (Beverly) and Dan Parks (Leanne); his sisters Cindy Ward (Richard) and Colleen DeChant (Joe); his godchildren Roseann Bjork and Frank Petrovich; many nieces and nephews; his uncle Vic Burchfield; his aunt Gundie Parks; and his three fur buddies Nemo, Lady, and Tommy. The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, May 22 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Lane Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, with private services following. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44110.
