Rene Paul Bertheaud, 74, of Canfield, returned home to his Lord Saturday morning, June 29th, following a brief stay at the Hospice House in Poland.
He was born March 7, 1950 in New Orleans, LA, a son of Paul Rene and Wandalee (Trosclair) Bertheaud.
His family moved to Dayton when Rene's father became a civil engineer at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He spent his childhood there until he graduated from Chaminade High School and left for The Ohio State University where he earned a 5-year BSc in Pharmacy. While at OSU he met and married the former Patricia L. Griffith on March 23, 1971. After graduation they relocated to Canfield to live and raise their family.
Rene worked as a staff pharmacist and information specialist for St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center in Youngstown until he retired in 2015.
Besides his wife of 53 years, Rene is survived by his son, David Rene Bertheaud and his daughter, Julia Anne (Colin) Barnhouse. He also leaves behind two brothers; Michael (Elizabeth) Bertheaud and Patrick Bertheaud; a sister, Catherine Bertheaud; and a grandson, Danny Barnhouse.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rene's family is forever grateful for the loving care that he and they received from Hospice of The Valley and request that any tributes be directed to Hospice of The Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512, in Rene's memory.
Private funeral services will be held and he will be laid to rest in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Boardman.
Arrangements for Mr. Bertheaud are being provided by the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown.
