Rev. Robert L. Harrah Sr., 84 of Warren, passed away Saturday morning, November 14, 2009 in the Community Skilled Care Center after a lengthy illness. Born January 18, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Basil and Josephine (Burdette) Harrah. A resident of the Warren area since 1954, Robert was a veteran of the United States Navy. While in the Navy Bob was a rifle range instructor. He attended the Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX and began his career as a minister. On May 9, 1954, Rev. Harrah founded the Warren Baptist Temple where he served as pastor for 48 years until 2001. He also worked as a school bus driver for the Howland Twp. Schools for 10 years. Bob was a volunteer and was also active with the adapted sports program at Hillside Hospital, he was a pitcher for the YMCA/Church softball league for man years and was a member of the First Assembly of God golf team. He enjoyed Hunting, golfing and bowling. Above all, Rev. Harrah loved his family and his church. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Mildred (Staats) Harrah whom he married March 21, 1947 and with whom he has shared 62 years of marriage. He is survived by three children Janet (David) Grafton of Akron, Robert L. (Leslie) Harrah Jr. of Washington, PA and Mickey Love of Cambridge, MD, six grandchildren, Erin, Brian, Kerri, Amanda, Katie and Nicholas, a brother William (Norma) Harrah of Vandalia, OH, three sisters, Margaret Shelton of Alderson, WV, Virginia Harrah of W. Columbia, WV, and Rose Weaver of Mason, WV, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Frank and James and by two sisters, Ruth Sisk and Gloria Harrah. Family and friends will be welcomed on Monday from 2 to 4 and from 6 until 8PM at the Warren Baptist Temple. The Rev. James Dittmar and Rev. Paul Staats will conduct a funeral service Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 at 11 AM at the Church. Burial will be held in the Pineview Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Rev. Harrah's memory to the church that he loved the Warren Baptist Temple at 2093 Ewalt Ave. NE Warren, OH 44483 The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel.
