Rhoda J. (Beck) Buran, age 82, of Champion Township died at 4:15 pm Tuesday at her daughter's home in Champion. She was born July 18, 1924 in Warren the daughter of George and Rosa (Starkey) Beck.
Rhoda was of the catholic faith and was a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed playing Bingo, crocheting and knitting.
She is survived by four daughters, Patricia A. King of Liberty Twp., Barbara A. Marsteller of Cortland, Bonnie A. Young with whom she made her home in Champion and Connie M. Hunt of Cortland; three sons, John G. Buran of Cortland, Joseph Buran of Warren and Patrick J. Buran of Tampa, FL; 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Ann Prokop of Bazetta Twp. and Marge Stavisky of Calif. Rhoda was preceded in death October 6, 1998 by her husband, John F. Buran whom she married December 7, 1943. Two brothers, James and Cecil Beck and one sister, Maude Thornhill also preceded in death. Arrangements are being handled by Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland. There will be no calling hours and a private funeral service will be held at St. Roberts Church in Cortland with Rev. Carl Kish celebrating the mass. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland. The family requests material contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, OH 44512-2198.
