Richard Louis DeLuca, 70, of Cortland passed away on Thursday October 17th at Concord Care Center of Cortland. Richard was born May 13, 1954, in Youngstown, a son of the late George DeLuca and Lorene Nardelli.

He was a 1972 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and was retired from the City of Struthers. He worked for many years as the Superintendent of the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

He married Kathleen Rotz on June 5th, 1993. They shared nearly 30 years together.

He will be remembered by his selfless devotion to his family as an amazing father, grandfather, husband, brother and son. In his spare time, he enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Florida with Kathleen. Together they also enjoyed antiquing and casino trips. Rich loved watching sports as an avid Cleveland fan. He was everyone’s support system — truly selfless, giving, compassionate, loving and willing to help. Rich spent the last couple of years side by side with his loyal companion, Toy Poodle Charlie. Charlie, along with the rest of her family and friends, will greatly miss him.

He is survived by his daughter, Tami (Adam) Buser of Cortland as well as his stepdaughters Samantha Rotz of Struthers and Michelle Sakmar of Dayton; sister Sissy Klenotic of Campbell; six grandchildren; great grandchildren and his toy Poodle Charlie DeLuca.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathleen DeLuca; his brothers, Dominic DeLuca, James DeLuca, George DeLuca and Bob DeLuca; stepdaughter Lori Greenwalt and his first wife Stephanie DeLuca.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Helen McGlynn for the wonderful care you gave to Rich.

To honor Rich’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to Rich’s favorite organizations, the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley or local dog shelter in Rich’s name.

The family is in the care of Lane Funeral Home, Shafer-Winans Chapel. Online condolences can be made at www.lanefuneralhomes.com.
