Richard J. Giannini, 80, of Austintown, passed away Tuesday morning, at Brookdale Nursing Facility in Austintown.

Richard was born June 24, 1944 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was the son of Alfred and Ann (DePalma) Giannini.

Richard was a graduate of South Hills High School and Robert Morris College in 1971. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam as a medic. Prior to retirement, he was a Human Resource Manager for Wean United Engineering and Alliance Midwest Tubular Products.

Richard was a member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown where he served as an Altar Server and Eucharistic Minister was active in the Christ Renews His Parish Program and the Cursillo Movement. He then became a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Austintown where again he was involved in The Christ Renews His Parish Program.

Richard was most happy when spending time with family. He loved gardening and canning and was famous for “Richie’s Hot Peppers” which he enjoyed gifting to friends and family. He also made the best Italian Wedding Soup, Chicken Soup, Beef Vegetable Soup and Mama G’s Spaghetti Sauce.

Richard enjoyed concerts and visiting wineries with his friends. He also enjoyed traveling to to Las Vegas N.V., Albuquerque N.M., Siesta Key, FL. and especially Hawaii and Italy, as well as cruises. He was an avid reader and loved his Pittsburgh Steelers, being a proud season ticket holder.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Larry. He is also preceded in death by his first wife Karen, whom he married July 26, 1969, and died March 16, 2011.

He is survived by his wife Rosemary (Conroy) Giannini, whom he married April 18, 2015; his children John Giannini and Jennifer (Rick) Dyson; his stepchildren Aaron Conroy, Ryan (Jen) Conroy, Jodi (Jeff) Opencar; his grandchildren Zachary Dyson, Ashlyn Dyson, and Cameron Dyson; his step-grandchildren Michael Snyder, Matthew Snyder, Brian Fisher, Kohl Conroy, Emma Conroy, and Hunter Conroy; his step-great-grandchildren Elia, Sofia, Alex, Addison, Grayson, and Carson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 8th at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Austintown. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church. Richard will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery with military honors.
