Rita Wolfson

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Rita Wolfson, 77, of Youngstown, Ohio, on April 16, 2024. Surrounded by her cherished loved ones, Rita peacefully departed from this world at Mercy Health Center, her spirit lifted on the wings of love after a sudden heart attack struck her on her birthday, April 9th.

Rita Wolfson graced the world with her presence on April 9, 1947, in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ivan and Annabelle Klarich. A luminous soul, Rita graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. Her thirst for knowledge led her to earn an associate degree from Youngstown State University. Rita found her calling in the legal realm, dedicating nearly three decades of her life as the esteemed office manager at the Mahoning County Prosecutor's office, where her diligence and warmth endeared her to all who crossed her path.

Rita Wolfson's legacy of love lives on through her devoted family: beloved spouse: Richard Wolfson; cherished children: Jeffrey (Michele), Gregory (Martha), Jill (Jim), Natalie (John); treasured grandchildren:  Jeffrey, Jaden, Zachary,  Jimmy (Jean), Kellie (David), Desiree (Bill), Derek,  Richard III, Darra, Rhianna, and the newest addition, great grandson Bennett; dear brothers and sister: John (Rose), Michael, Sandra;  and several nieces and nephews.. Besides her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her dear brothers, Paul and Clifford and her adored son Richard. 

Rita's essence was a tapestry woven with hard work, boundless laughter, and tender kisses at bedtime. She embodied strength, loyalty, and the unwavering heart of a matriarch. Our home, under her loving gaze, was a sanctuary of warmth and welcome, where every heart found solace and every soul found belonging. Holidays were joyous occasions where family and friends gathered to create lasting memories.  Rita's love knew no bounds, especially for her beautiful grandchildren, upon whom she doted with unending affection. Her generosity knew no limits, and her smile illuminated even the darkest corners of our lives. Rita Wolfson, with her radiant spirit and infectious laughter, remains forever etched in our hearts. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 24th  at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield chapel from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.. In honoring Rita's generous spirit, the family kindly requests donations to a charity of their choice in her memory. A Celebration of Life service is being planned for a later date.
