On June 2, 2019 Robert E. Jones of Warren died of natural causes while driving his prized pickup truck. He passed away at the age of 90 - weeks before his 91st birthday. Bob attended Warren city schools and worked at Brainard Steel for 32 years before retiring in 1989. He worked hard to save to buy his home and took great pride in it. In 1963 he bought that home and lived in it until his death. He loved fixing, repairing, and remodeling the house and painstakingly tended to his yard. Even when he could no longer push a mower, he bought a riding mower and every few days you would see him riding it. His hobbies included bowling, woodworking, puzzles, and cards. He was a big football fan and was always hopeful that the Cleveland Browns would win a Super Bowl. He and his wife, Peggy, loved sitting on the front porch visiting with family and neighbors, enjoying nature and just "watching the world go by." He was often gruff on the exterior, but a softie on the inside. He was a man of few words who loved his family even though it was often difficult for him to express or demonstrate his affection. However, like fine wine, he mellowed with age. Bob leaves behind two daughters, Patti (Eric) Herttua and Robin Showman; a brother, Kenneth Jones; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Margaret (Peggy) Jones; daughter, Pamela Jones; sister, Margaret Riley; grandson, Ernie Brady; son-in-law Dave Showman; and his parents. Services for Bob will be held at a later date.
