Robert James Criddle, 87 of Cortland and formerly of Bristolville died Friday afternoon, February 17, 2012 at Cortland Health Care nursing home after a lengthy illness. Born January 7, 1925 in Warren, he was the son of the late Earl H. and Bertha L. (Kincaid) Criddle. He was a lifetime area resident and a veteran of the United Stated Air Force having served during WWII. Bob retired in 1985 from ITT Grinnell where he worked as a hanger assembler. He also worked part time for RD Banks Chevrolet and drove a milk truck for Carl Fleming years ago. Bob enjoyed long drives and traveling with his wife, Gail (Cribbs) Criddle, whom he married April 27, 1946. He and Gail shared 64 years of marriage before her death in 2010. He will be dearly missed by their four children; Barbara (Tony) Quinn of Johnston, Ronald J. (Susan) Criddle of Champion, Carol (Joe) Sankey of Champion and Larry R. (Barbara) Criddle of Bristolville, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and by a brother Kenneth Criddle of Bristolville. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son David Criddle, grandson Mike Jackson, brother, Donald Criddle and a sister Marjorie Wolfli. According to Robert's wishes there will be no calling hours and he will be cremated. A private family service will be held and burial will take place in the Sager Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
