AUSTINTOWN- Services will be held at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel Friday at 1:30 PM for Robert M. Menning who died at his home Monday afternoon of melanoma. He was surrounded by his family. Bob had 35 years service at General Motors, Lordstown, as a computer programmer, benefits specialist, then Senior Quality Engineer until his retirement in July of 2001. He supported the GM Toyota joint ventures in the implementation of new quality systems in assembly plants in the U.S.A., Japan and Mexico. Prior to GM he worked at Mahoning National Bank in Youngstown. He was owner of Home Maintence Plus since retirement. He also enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. Bob was born on October 6, 1942 in Austintown the son of Carl and Jane (Murdoch) Menning and graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1960. He attended Youngstown University and was a member of the Mahoning United Methodist Church. Bob had also served in the United States Air Force Reserve. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jolene (Jones) Menning; a son Mark Menning (Kimberly) of Westlake Village, CA and a daughter Claudia Plunkett (Mark) of Austintown along with grandchildren Jake and Natalie Plunkett, a brother Richard Menning (Nancy) of Indianapolis, IN, a sister Carol Beu (Gary) of Elgin, IL., two nieces, three nephews and many special friends and family members. He is preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel from 4-8 PM on Thursday. The family requests that tributes take the form of contributions to Forum Health at Home Hospice, 8747 Squires Lane N.E, Warren, OH 44484.
