Robert J. Zimmerman, Sr., 86 formerly of Brookfield and Hubbard passed away in Venice, Florida on October 10, 2017. Bob was born on January 23, 1931 in Brookfield to Adam & Barbara "Bertha" (Hausladen) Zimmerman. Bob raised his family in Hubbard until he retired from Wean United Engineering after which he settled in the warmth of Sarasota, Florida. Music was Bob's true love and passion in life. A talented saxophone player, Bob and his brother had a band called The Ohioans. He was part of the group The Noblemen and Sophisticated Swingas well. While in Florida, he started the Bob Zimmerman Orchestra and was the conductor and leader of the band. He also directed the Shriner's band in Sarasota. When Bob wasn't creating beautiful music, he was always working on a project. Nothing too small, mostly building cars or some sort of remodeling to his home. A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday October 20, 2017 at Lane Funeral Homes, Brookfield location. His family will receive friends starting at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Bob is survived by his children Beverly (William) Esmond, Maxine Zimmerman and Robert J. Zimmerman, Jr.; his stepson Bill Speer; his significant other Marian Buckman; his grandchildren Melissa (Randy) Viconovic, Sarah (Jason Haden) Esmond and William Esmond Jr.; 3 great-grandchildren, his sister Barbara (Donald) Meszaros; as well as his nieces & nephews: Barbara Toot, Rick Zimmerman, Kimberly Breslow, Jason, Jon & Tim Meszaros, and Cara Miller. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Norma Jean, his second wife Dorothy and his brother Richard Zimmerman. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
