Robert “Bob/Sonny” C. Krepps, Sr, 96, peacefully entered into his Savior’s arms on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born in Waltersburg, PA, on Oct. 2, 1928, a son of Harry and Wilda Murray Krepps.
Entering the military in 1945, he served for 3 years, 18 months of it in Germany as part of the clean up crew. Upon exiting the military, he married the love of his life Jean Reckard, on June 16, 1951, and they were blessed to share 59 wonderful years together before her passing in 2010.
Prior to relocating to Warren, OH, he worked on the B & O Railroad and then went on to work in Christy Park US Steel, McKeesport, PA, while also volunteering at the Smock Fire Department. In 1955, he took a job at Niles Rolling Mill, Niles, OH, after relocating to Warren, OH. Upon getting laid off, he became a journeyman lineman electrician with IBEW Local 411 and later also IBEW 573, where he retired after 32 years of service. Bob loved to volunteer his time in the community and served as a Boy Scout Leader for Local 12 of Leavittsburg, OH, and also 125 Westlawn of Warren, OH.
He was a Little League baseball coach for 12 years in Warren, OH, and also served on the Board of Directors as President for multiple years for the original Warren Little Raiders. He and his beloved wife moved to Wyngate Manor in Brookfield, OH in 1989, to be closer to his grandchildren. There, he found a new calling and became the community handyman where he was often heard saying he was “a jack of all trades and a master of none” and “if it can’t be fixed with duct tape or WD-40, then it isn’t worth fixing.” He also became a part of the Block Watch Program where he developed strong relationships with all of his neighbors.
After his wife’s passing, he and his buddies could be found hanging out together on his patio at all times of the day. He was a man who never knew a stranger, loved spending time with his family, especially at his camp outside of Tionesta, PA, and cherished all the many road trips, lunches, and time he had with his namesake and son, Robert C. Krepps, Jr, whom he leaves behind, along with his wife, Karen. He also leaves behind his stepson, Andrew “Butch” Selep; 9 grandchildren, Eric Krepps, Robert (Megan) Krepps III, Brian (Molly) Krepps, Michelle (Jason) Summerville, and Melissa (Chris) Anguish; 11 great grandchildren, Amber, Eric, Robert IV, Bella, Codi, Seth, Peyton, Kacy, Allie, Aria, and Parker; 4 step grandchildren, Andrew, Lynn, Jeff, and Jason; 4 step great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and 14 nieces and nephews, whom he loved and adored.
