Services will be held 11AM Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel for Ronald Payne, 75, of Canfield who passed away Friday evening at his home. Ron was born November 18, 1934 in Youngstown the son of Carl O. and Hazel (Zinstine) Payne. He was a graduate of Canfield High School class of 1953, and was a Veteran of the United States Military serving in the Navy Seabees and the U.S. Army. Ron retired in May of 1995 as a foreman with the Canfield City Public Works Department. In 1985 he was inducted into the Canfield High School Athletic Hall of Fame for Basketball. Ron was a member of Canfield Christian Church. He enjoyed running and ran in several marathons', as well as raising champion Doberman Pinscher show dogs. He also spent 10 winters in Florida. Ron leaves his wife the former Carol Paugh, whom he married July 8, 1954, three Children; Cynthia (Richard) Bird of Canfield, Kenneth (Wendy) Payne of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Ronda Massey of Maumee, OH, one brother; William (Shirley) Payne of Edgewater FL, five grandchildren; Laura (Adam) Griffin, Eric Bird, Kyle (Casey) Massey, Tara Massey, and Kenny Payne, and three great granddaughters. Besides his parents, Ron is preceded in death by an infant son; Ronald, an identical twin brother; Rodney, and a sister; Arlene Warren. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday and again from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley in Ronald's name.
