Rose M. Filipovich, 94, passed away with her family by her side on April 26, 2019 at OBrien Memorial Health Care Center in Masury, OH. Rose was born on July 9, 1924 in Pembrook, PA, the daughter of Joseph and Rosie (Emery) Nodge. She was a 1942 graduate of Grove City High School. Shortly after high school, she was associated with the USO entertaining the troops in Grove City. She worked at Bessemer in Grove City followed by the Westinghouse before becoming a homemaker to take care of her family that she deeply cherished. Once her children were grown up, she worked at Valley View until she retired in 1986. She loved playing cards, scrabble, working on cross word puzzles, dancing, going to the casino, collecting salt and pepper shakers, and cooking for her friends and family. She loved watching the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers. Above everything, she loved spending time with her family. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her favorite time of year was Christmas. She loved having the family come together to share memories and her famous stuffed cabbage. Rose will be deeply missed by her children, Daniel (Julie) Filipovich, Timothy (Kari) Filipovich, Joseph (Vicki) Filipovich, and Michael Filipovich; grandchildren, Michael Filipovich, Joshua (Cassandra) Filipovich, George (Rachel) Basista, Tim (Lara) Filipovich Jr., Jim (Michelle) Filipovich, Lisa (Paul) Fetters, Chad Filipovich, Connor Filipovich, Danielle Parker, and Matthew (Lindsey) Filipovich; 12 great-grandchildren; and her brother in law, John Filipovich. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Joseph Filipovich Sr. whom she married on November 22, 1946 and passed on January 30, 1995; and her brother Lester Nodge. Friends and family may visit from 5-8:00PM on Tuesday April 30, 2019 at Lane Family Funeral Homes Madasz Chapel at 6923 Warren Sharon Road in Brookfield, and on Wednesday May 1, 2019 from 9-10:00AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Vienna followed by a burial of Christian mass at 10:00AM, officiated by The Very Rev. Frank Zanni V.R. Burial will take place at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Farrell, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans at 2044 Youngstown Rd SE, Warren, OH 44484.
