CORTLAND-Funeral Services will be held at the Lane Funeral Home Mineral Ridge Chapel on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at 6PM with Father Stephen Popovich officiating for Roy Carpenter, of Niles-Cortland Rd in Cortland and formerly of County Line Rd in Mineral Ridge, who passed away suddenly Saturday morning in St. Elizabeth Emergency Center Austintown after being stricken at work. Roy was 70. Roy was born on July 17, 1934 in Firebrick, Kentucky and was the son of Charles Gus and Gertrude (Felty) Carpenter, and moved to Ohio in 1946. Roy was a graduate of Mineral Ridge High School and attended Youngstown State University. Roy was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean Conflict. Roy was currently working as a tool maker at the General Motors Lordstown Plant and was co-owner of Farmer’s Daughter Production with his wife Donna. Roy was a member of Local Union 1112, and the Sigma Phi Epsilon. He was a former member of the IOOF Odd Fellows. Roy was an accomplished woodcarver, and artist, and enjoyed working, fishing, loved the entertainment business, listening to country music, but mostly spending time with his grandchildren. Roy is survived by his wife the former Donna L. Beckwith, whom he married on December 29, 1988; two children, Scott (Alice) Carpenter of Bossier, LA, and Holly Carpenter of Austintown; two stepchildren, Michele (Kenneth) Manko of Tijeras, NM; and Gina (James) Holowatuk of Boardman; and five grandchildren, Kaci Carpenter, Aaron Moore, Christoffer Holowatuk, Ian Hunter Holowatuk, Tres Manko, and Olivia Rose Manko. Besides his parents, Roy was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Carpenter. Family will receive friends from 4 until 6 PM before the services Tuesday at the funeral home.
