There will be Services at 11 a.m. Monday at Lane Family Funeral Homes-Anstrom Chapel, 8387 Tod Ave. in Boardman for Ruth A. Wendt, 93, who passed away Monday, Jan. 15th at St. Elizabeth Boardman Medical Center. Ruth was born Feb. 17, 1924, the daughter of Carl and Katherine Miller Gerthung. She was a graduate of East High School and then was employed at the General Electric Mazda Lamp Plant in Youngstown. Ruth was the bookkeeper at ONeal Awning for 35 years before her retirement. She was a member of Eastern Star and had been both a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. Ruth enjoyed traveling and spending time in Florida with her family and friends. She also enjoyed attending outdoor concerts and was a fan of both the Cleveland Indians and Pittsburgh Pirates. Her husband of 63 years, Martin E. Wendt, whom she married April 2, 1943, died Nov. 15, 2006. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Karen L. (Chuck W.) Beltz of Boardman; her granddaughter, Heather L. Beltz ; her grandsons, Rich and Ron Wendt and her furry friend, Autumn. Besides her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Earl E. Wendt; her brother, Earl Gerthung and her daughter-in-law, Patty Wendt. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family would like to give a special thanks to Ruths care-giver, Jasmine Joy for her compassionate care and concern for Ruth.
