Ruth Caroline Demmel Krebs Rigo

February 7, 1920 — March 4, 2018

Ruth Caroline Demmel Krebs Rigo February 7, 1920 - March 4, 2018 Ruth Krebs Rigo lived an extraordinary, full 98 years: mother, grandmother, friend, mentor, role model and inspiration. She loved her family, friends, travel, books, cooking, golf, bridge and life in general. Ruth, a proud resident of Canfield, Ohio, for the majority of her life, lived her last three years at First Community Village in Columbus. She made an indelible impression on all of those with whom she came into contact. A child of the depression, Ruth lost her home but never her smile and sunny disposition. Her positive attitude was contagious and she never said a negative thing about anyone. She was always interesting to talk with and interested in you. Ruth had four sons, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. As a mother and grandmother she provided unconditional love, cleaned scraped knees, played games, went blueberry picking, read books, and taught us that there was no problem that could not be solved by a plate of warm cookies! To her grandchildren she was generous, kind, resourceful, adventurous, funny and hip. Ruth did not let age define her: she travelled to Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland ME., and Nashville; she toured Italy and cruised in the South Pacific; and, ever the optimist, she attended seven Browns gamesall after the age of 90! Ruth was the daughter of John and Margaret Klaus Demmel. She graduated from Boardman High School and Youngstown Secretarial College, and, during WWII, worked at GMAC and Cold Metal Products. Ruth had two wonderful husbands, Norman F. Krebs (1942-1978) and Michael A. Rigo (1982-2004). She loved being a part of the Canfield community, and raised her four boys thereas the only female in a household of six males. Later she worked at Farmers Savings & Loan Bank. She was a member and deacon of the Canfield United Presbyterian Church, and a charter member of the Canfield Womens Club. She was also a member of the Monday Book Review Club and several Duplicate Bridge Clubs. She volunteered at Southside Hospital and Hospice of the Valley. We will remember how she always put others first, her quiet strength, the twinkle in her eye, the soft voice that almost purred and the smilethat beautiful smile! The family of Ruth Krebs Rigo appreciates your prayers and support. We hope that you also have been touched and blessed by her remarkable life.
