Ruth E. Metzler

NORTH JACKSON-There will be Services at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Lane Family Funeral Homes-Austintown Chapel for Ruth E. Metzler, 95, who passed away Sunday evening January 20th at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Ruth was born December 21, 1923 in Youngstown, the daughter of William S. and Elsie Baehler Smith. She was the head of the payroll department at Taylor-Winfield Co. in Warren for 25 years, retiring in 1986. Ruth was a 1942 graduate of South High School and was then employed by Truscon Steel. She was a member of First Federated Church of North Jackson since 1949. She was also a 71 year member of Miriam Chapter No. 278 Order of Eastern Star and a past member of the Waggin Wheels Travel Club and also several card clubs. She enjoyed playing cards and also traveling, especially to Europe and Hawaii. Ruth loved to dine out in the company of family and friends. Ruths husband of 53 years Brant H. Metzler, Sr., whom she married July 2, 1949, died March 16, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Lynda F. Metzler of Austintown; her son Brant H. Metzler, Jr. of Austintown; her grandchildren, Brandy (Toby) Elsey and Heidi (Steven) Garber and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Sandy Metzler. Friends may call from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the Service on Saturday at the funeral home, where a Service conducted by Miriam Chapter No. 278, Order of Eastern Star will be held at 10:45 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund of First Federated Church, 10786 Mahoning Ave., North Jackson, OH 44451, in Ruth E. Metzlers name or may be given to the donors charity of choice.
