Ruth Sunbury

Farmdale Ruth C. Sunbury, 93, passed away Saturday evening, October 21, 2017 at Cortland Healthcare Center. Ruth was born on January 4, 1924 in Warren, Ohio, a daughter of the late Earl and Christine (Fowler) Croop. She lived in Niles and attended Niles schools until her family moved to Mecca and she graduated from Mecca High School. When Mosquito Lake was put in she later moved to Johnston. She was a secretary at the Trumbull County Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service Office and helped with the family feed grinding business and dairy farm. She was a member of Johnston Federated United Methodist Church, literary club, Ohio and National Holstein Association, and attended farm bureau meetings. Ruth will be deeply missed by her son, James (Marjorie) Sunbury; her granddaughter, Brianna (Luke) Zwieg; and two great-granddaughters, Zada and Samara. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Vaughn Sunbury, whom she married on February 4, 1945 and passed away on September 28, 2012; her daughter Carol Vlk; and her brother Richard Croop. Funeral services for Ruth will be held on Thursday October 26, 2017 at Johnston Federated United Methodist Church at 12:00PM with calling hours one hour prior to services at church. Burial will take place at Johnston Township Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
