AUSTINTOWN—Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Sam A. (Whimp) Zitello, 80, of E. Rockwell Dr. who passed away Friday evening at his residence. Sam was born December 16, 1921 in Youngstown, the son of Frank and Jenny Martone Zitello and was a lifelong area resident. He had been employed as a carpenter for US Steel’s Ohio Works retiring in 1972 and the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority retiring in 1989. He was a WWII Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion and was a Volunteer Fireman for Austintown. Sam was a member of the church. He is survived by his wife, the former Anne Sassone, two daughters, Mary McGuire of Washington DC and Donna McMahon of Austintown, three sons, Richard and Michael Zitello both of Austintown and Joe Zitello of North Jackson. Whimp also leaves three sisters, Angeline Bovin of McDonald, Natalie McBride and Gloria Jakubek both of Youngstown, five brothers, Selone, Benny, John, and Robert Zitello all of Youngstown and Frank Zitello of Mineral Ridge, 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A brother, Anthony Zitello preceded him in death. Friends may call fro 4 to 8 PM Monday at the lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
