New Port Richey, Florida/Berlin Center, Ohio- Private services will be held Monday, March 16th at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel for Sean Patrick Duff, 42 who died Monday, March 9th, 2009 at his home in New Port Richey Florida. Sean was born December 14th, 1966 in Amarillo, Texas, the son of Thomas and Kathleen Duff. After graduating from high school in Connecticut, Sean served his country bravely in the United States Marine Corps, then started a career in pubic service. He chose to be a paramedic as he wanted to save lives. He began his EMS career in Youngstown, Ohio, working for the Pellan Ambulance Company as well as Gold Cross Ambulance Service and then moved to Florida in 1991. He then started work at Sunstar Paramedics. He also worked 3 tours with East Lake Fire Department (originally hired on April 19, 1999) 2 tours with St. Petersburg Fire Rescue. Sean loved serving the community and was driven by making a difference in people's lives. During his nearly 20 years as a firefighter/paramedic, he saved countless lives and helped everyone who asked for help in a kind and unselfishly way. Sean was best known for his kind, loving heart, artistic abilities, culinary expertise, his level of professionalism and his love for always helping others in their time of need. He also loved pets and cared deeply for each one, including his two dogs Charlie and Charlise. Sean was truly a dedicated Firefighter/Paramedic and crewmember of East Lake Fire Rescue. Sean is deeply missed by those that knew and loved him. The firefighters at East Lake feel they will never be the same, but will continue to provide the level of care and professionalism that was an "EVERY DAY" thing from Sean. He was and will forever be their Brother. Sean is survived by his wife, Tonya, his daughter, Avonlea and stepson, Zachary, his brother Scott (Kathy) Duff of Prattville, Alabama and their sons Timothy and Daniel, his stepsister Kimberly McCormick of Clinton Twp. Michigan and her sons Ian and Collin McCormick. Sean is also survived by his step father John Mitzel and his father and mother in-law, Ron and Linda Crum. He was preceded in death by his mother Kathleen Mitzel and his grandmother Mary Slough. Please keep Sean and his family in your heart-felt thoughts and prayers. A Memorial Service for Sean P. Duff will be held this Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 10 a.m. at River Ridge Presbyterian Church, 9230 Ridge Road, New Port Richey, FL, 34654, 727-842-5278. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to East Lake Fire Fund at 3375 Tarpon Lake, Bvld., Palm Harbor, Florida 34685, 727-784-8668.
