Dr. Shawki N. Habib, 77 Funeral Services will be 12 noon on Wednesday, May 30th at St. Marks Coptic Orthodox Church, 2100 E. Pleasant Valley Rd., Independence, Ohio for Dr. Shawki N. Habib, 77 of Canfield, well known cardiologist that served the community for over 35 years who died Friday morning at his residence. Dr. Habib was born in Cairo, Egypt, a son of the late Dr. Nagib and Marie Habib and came to this area in 1975. He served his residency and fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh and was a cardiologist for the Ohio Heart Institute, retiring in 2009. Dr. Habib taught at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and also at NEOMED. He was the 2008 recipient of the American Heart Association Cardiac Service Award and was very devoted to his patients. He was a member of St. Marks Coptic Orthodox Church and was a loving husband to his wife, "Monda" whom he married November 20, 1966. Dr. Habib was a loving father, raising three successful children, two daughters, Nancy (Youssef) Arshoun of Pittsburgh, Monica Habib, PA-C of Boca Raton,Florida ; one son, Phillip Habib, M.D. Of San Antonio, Texas; and two beloved grandchildren, Angelica and Anthony. Besides his parents, Dr. Habib was preceded in death by two sisters. Friends may call on Tuesday, May 29th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Lane Family Funeral Homes, 65 N. Broad Street, Canfield Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to St. Marks Coptic Orthodox Church, Independence, Ohio in his memory.
