Shirley Elizabeth Michael, 81, was born November 10, 1937 and passed quietly in the early morning hours of January 26, 2019. During her illness, she was cared for lovingly by her children and grand-children, St. Josephs Hospital, St. Elizabeths Hospital, Champion Dialysis Center and the Community Skilled Health Care Center. Her gratitude for their love and comfort was genuine, even when it could no longer be expressed. She was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania to Orville Lee Michael and Virginia Cooper-Michael (Emmett - Covert), who preceded her in death. Shirley lived in Warren, OH for more than 50 years. While raising five children, she served as a volunteer with the American Red Cross, Someplace Safe, and the McGuffey Elementary School PTA. She also participated as a Homeroom Mother, Library Assistant and was involved with Eagle Scouts, Jobs Daughters, Girl Scouts, and Brownies. She was extremely proud to continue her education and obtain an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Law Enforcement in 1979 and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2002 from Kent State University. She was also an avid swimmer and shared her love of music with her children by singing in the choir and directing the youth choir at Grace United Methodist Church in Warren, OH and United Brethren Church in New Castle, PA. She was retired from Packard Electric, where she worked in security. She is survived by her children: Ross Hoover, Wendy Leigh Hoover- Sudimack (William), John Eric Hoover (Lena Flores), all from El Paso, TX and Sherry Lynne Simms (Joseph, deceased) from Warren, OH. She is also survived by 5 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren: "TJ" Timothy Joseph Simms and wife Amanda with great grandchildren AJ and Gavin of McDonald, OH; Dr. Daniel Sudimack and wife Adriana of El Paso, TX, Michael Ross Simms and wife Laura of Leavittsburg, OH, Cody Lawrence Simms of Warren, OH and Granddaughter Rachel Paige Muela and husband Paul of Flagstaff, AZ. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands John William "Bill" Hoover and James Mrus; her beloved son, Michael Scott Hoover in 1985 and her brother, Robert Lee Michael. A private memorial service will be held with family and her internment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Warren.
