Shirley Mae Schmidt

Shirley M. Schmidt, 80, passed away April 14, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Shirley was born on March 10, 1940 in Austintown, Ohio the daughter of the late Bernard and Irma McGlaughlin Hendricks.
A lifelong resident of Austintown she graduated from Austintown Fitch High School and Youngstown State University. After receiving both her undergraduate and master’s degree from YSU she began a career in education serving the Austintown community for over thirty-two years as a teacher at Austintown Middle School. Upon retirement in 1996 she continued her dedication to education as a long-term substitute teacher.
Shirley was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church and the Austintown Junior Women’s League. She enjoyed cross stitch needlework and travelling with her late husband Frank.
She will be missed by her children Kevin (Kathy) Schmidt, Keith (Debbie) Schmidt and Kimberly (Doug) Lewindowski; her grandchildren Jamie (Sam) Pritchard, Dylan Schmidt, Matthew Schmidt, Caitlin (Jeff) Brigham, Brianna Lewandowski, Alex Luxon, Rachel Brown, Kimberly Brown and great grandchildren Addison Brown, Cory Brown, Kennedy Brigham and baby girl Pritchard due to arrive in September. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank C. Schmidt.
Private family services have been held with burial at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
