Thelma Jane Welch

Warren - Thelma J. Welch, 88, passed away Friday morning, November 30, 2018 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. Thelma was born on July 6, 1930 in Brownton, WV, daughter of the late Kale B. and Lillian (Armstrong) Phares. She worked at Packard Electric before leaving to become a proud homemaker. She loved taking care of her husband, who was her true love, and her children. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband and family. She was a member of the Ladies Aid with McKinley Community Church. Thelma will be deeply missed by her loving children, Cathy S. (David) Hughes, John A.Welch, Deborah K. Welch and her significant other John MacDonald; her grandchildren, Matthew and Devin Hughes; sister Leona Long, brother Charles W. "Bill" Phares; and grand-dogs, Floyd and Ruby. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John M. Welch, whom she married on July 1, 1956 and passed away on June 6, 2013; her son Robert L. Welch, and her brother James Phares. Friends and family may visit from 11:30-12:30PM on Tuesday December 4, 2018 at Lane Family Funeral Homes - Roberts Clark Chapel at 180 Garfield Road in Warren, with the service following at 12:30PM. Burial will take place at Meadowbrook Memorial Park in Warren.
